Introduction to textile science fundamentals to guide daily textile product selection, use, and care. Emphasis on the physical and chemical properties of fibers and their impact on textile product performance. Fiber and fabric evaluation on a microscopic level. Overview of textile construction, dyeing, printing, and finishing with a focus on textiles as a unique medium for studying physical and forensic science through an approachable and real-life applicable lens. Discussion of environmental impact of the textile industry as well as innovations in sustainable textile production.
