Catalog description

This lower division course introduces Native American Studies foundational concepts and themes with a focus on tribal leadership and sovereignty. Through examining diverse leadership skills in tribal nations, tribal organization, and government agencies, students will explore the approaches of building and rebuilding tribal nations, put into a common language, and design a leadership portfolio. Topics can include but are not limited to: contemporary issues related to tribal governance, economic development, community health and wellness, cultural heritage, protection and cultural stewardship, among additional topics.
