Catalog description

Designed for first-generation college students, this course introduces the culture, expectations, and opportunities of higher education in a supportive environment. Students will explore essential concepts and terms while developing critical thinking skills to examine how academic backgrounds and cultural, economic, racial, and social identities shape their college experience. Emphasizing academic success and the transition to campus life, the course helps students reflect on their roles as learners. It also challenges them to critically evaluate common perceptions and misperceptions about college, fostering confidence and a deeper understanding of higher education.
