Catalog description

This course introduces the fundamentals of electric power substations, with emphasis on equipment, drawings, and practical calculations used by electric utilities. Topics include substation configurations, transformers, breakers, protection and control systems, grounding, and auxiliary systems. Students learn to interpret one-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and layout drawings, and perform basic substation design and analysis calculations. The course prepares students for entry-level roles in utility and power engineering environments.
