Catalog description

Prepares teacher candidates in multiple subjects to teach history-social science content through critical inquiry and counter-narratives that challenge dominant approaches. Candidates will learn to integrate critical thinking skills and pedagogies across disciplines (history, geography, civics, economics) and other areas while addressing social justice and anti-racism. Through analyzing, developing, and adapting curriculum, candidates will explore and apply culturally responsive and universal design methods that promote meaningful student engagement and be prepared to teach social studies to all students in California public schools, including multilingual learners and students with disabilities. Field trip(s).
