Catalog description

Designed to provide students with an introduction to basic knowledge and skills necessary to be legally and ethically competent in the practice of counseling. Examines ethical and legal considerations pursuant to the practice of counseling in TK-12 school setting. Topics to be covered are ethics related to counseling practice in TK-12 school settings; laws regarding mandatory child and elder abuse assessment and reporting; confidentiality and privilege; liability; school ethics and law; roles and functions; and the ethical decision-making model.
