Catalog description

During this course, students will receive a foundation in the scientific and laboratory problem solving skills necessary for success in a modern forensic laboratory. Through lecture and laboratory assignments, this course will cover fundamental concepts in forensic science and apply the basic concepts towards evidence collection and analysis. Topics will include the (1) history of forensic science and the law; (2) fingerprints and impression evidence; (3) firearms and toolmarks; (4) physical fit comparisons, (5) bloodstain pattern interpretation (6) quality assurance, and (7) ethics. Students will draft laboratory reports and background.
