A historical and detailed examination of texts on controversial issues in order to illustrate the varied forms of rhetorical action and the diverse modes of rhetorical analysis. Beginning with origins in Ancient Greece and ending with contemporary uses in narrative, feminist, visual and other new media contexts, the course focuses on changing concepts of rhetoric throughout a time span of more than 2000 years.
