Catalog description

This course explores the history of Indian and Southeast Asian art from ancient times to the premodern period, examining the development of traditional forms such as Buddhist and Hindu sculpture, temple architecture, manuscript painting, and textiles, as well as the influences of religious, political, and cultural exchanges across the region. It also considers the evolution of artistic traditions in response to shifting dynastic, colonial, and global contexts.
