Catalog description

This course is designed to present an overview of traditional research methods and data analysis in the social sciences. The primary goal of this course is to equip you with the basic tools needed to critically evaluate and conduct social science research. The secondary goal is to generate a deeper understanding of the signi¿cant interrelationship that exists between social theory and methodology (i.e., the development of social theory and the methodologies of data collection and analysis). A grade of C- or higher is required in order to take any 4000-level methods course. A grade of C- or higher is required for graduation. Prerequisites: SOC 1008 and C- minimum in SOC 2208 (or equivalent statistics course). Cannot take SOC 3000 and SOC 2208 concurrently. Sociology majors only.
