Catalog description

This is a communication skills course that examines interpersonal processes related to the development of skills and strategies and their application to interpersonal and group communications. These are the basic skills applied in daily interactions including professional settings, close interpersonal relationships and small group interactions. This course will provide you with the opportunity to learn about theoretical basis of interpersonal processes as well as opportunities for skill development and practice. Your readings, classroom activities, and assignments provide the opportunity to learn about and apply psychological knowledge to increase your own sense of self-awareness and interpersonal skills with others. Because a significant portion of this class is based on in-class skills practice, role plays, and group experiences, attendance and participation are very important and account for a significant portion of your course grade. Offered on credit, no credit basis only. Prerequisite: Psychology major.
