Catalog description

This course traces the development of Western philosophy from its Greek origins through the Hellenistic period. It introduces students to ancient debates and methods of inquiry regarding the nature of reality, knowledge, and morality. Beginning with the works of the Pre-Socratic philosophers, the course moves on to Plato and Aristotle, culminating in a study of the major Hellenistic movements such as stoicism, epicureanism, and early Christianity.
