Pharmacotherapeutics for Advanced Practice Nurses ((3))

Catalog description
Designed to meet the California Board of Registered Nursing requirement for nurse practitioners to furnish medications and/or devices commonly used in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of health care conditions affecting patients across the life span, pursuant to the Business and Professions Code including utilizing standardized procedures, including controlled substances (Schedule II-V) and risk of addiction associated with their use. Content of focused discussion and testing will include, but not limited to: pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, pharmacotherapeutic management; recognizing and managing side effects; interactions with medications, foods, and dietary supplements; ethical and legal issues related to the furnishing process, including furnishing controlled substance. Emphasis is on achieving optimal drug therapy outcomes as well as preparation for application for a furnishing license.
