Topics include: first order linear partial differential equations (PDEs), the method of characteristics, Cauchy Problems, Fourier Series, boundary value problems of second order PDEs from mathematical physics, orthogonal functions and generalized Fourier series, Sturm-Liouville problems, and numerical solutions. Additional topics may include: harmonic functions, Green functions, Fourier transforms, or calculus of variations.
