Catalog description

This course introduces students with little or no prior computer programming experience to basic principles of numerical computing in a mathematical and functions, using for loops and if-else statements, and utilizing graphing technology. Topics include the Sieve of Eratosthenes, Collatz Conjecture, magic squares, Pascal's triangle, Root finding using Intermediate Value Theorem and Newton's Method, Riemann sums, optimization, systems of equations, curve fitting, chaos, and text preparation in LATEX, with other miscellaneous topics at the discretion of the instructor.
