Catalog description
This course is designed to help students recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. The course teaches students the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed. The course teaches first aid, CPR and AED skills to meet the various training needs of a diverse audience. The care steps outlined within this course are consistent with the most recent research and recommendations by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) Consensus on Science with Treatment Recommendations for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC), and the current American Heart Association and American Red Cross Guidelines for Basic Life Support (BLS) techniques, CPR, AED, and First Aid. Students must successfully complete the course and demonstrate the required skills to be eligible to receive a certificate of completion.
