Since the Neolithic Revolution (c. 7,000 BCE), humans have engaged in warfare. Large armies of several thousand were already part of Near Eastern society by c. 3000 BCE. Inventions like bronze and the chariot, and then later efficient iron technology, will radically change the nature of ancient warfare and impact the organization of society. As metal technology advanced, so would the tools for warfare. Gunpowder would dramatically change the nature of warfare in the Early Modern period, while improved technology would lead to increasing mechanization of warfare in the Modern period including improved navies, repeating rifles, aircraft, automatic weapons, tanks, and nuclear weapons. Prerequisites: At least 60 units and completion of lower division Area 3.
