Catalog description

This course explores the history of social movements and revolutions in Latin America in the twentieth century. The course begins the study of revolutions by providing essential background in the colonial and neocolonial past to understand historical problems of poverty and inequality. Emphasis will be on the origins and progress of key revolutions, including the Mexican and Cuban revolutions, and on social, political, and economic changes that unfolded in the wake of these revolutions.
