Catalog description

This course will provide a working knowledge of the geochemistry of the solid Earth and hydrosphere. Course content will include: the origin, distribution, abundances, and properties of Earth's elements; processes that affect the formation of minerals and rocks; classical applications of geochemistry to mineralogy, petrology, planetary formation, ore genesis, geothermometry, radiometric dating, and stable isotope analyses; and selected methodologies. 150 minutes of lecture and 150 minutes of lab per week. A course fee is required.
