Catalog description

This course is grounded in Asian American Studies and offers a critical analysis of racialized & gendered representations of Asian Americans in popular culture: TV, film, music, magazines, newspapers, social media. The course emphasizes the production and consumption of all aspects of popular culture by and about Asian Americans in the US by utilizing theories and methods for studying popular culture, with a focus on the impact of race, gender, and sexual identities.
