Catalog description

This course examines energy economics and policy from the perspective of factors influencing sustainability and social responsibility (e.g., scientific, economic, cultural, ethical, political). The role of energy in economic development is considered. Topics included various energy sources and industries (e.g., coal, petroleum, natural gas, wind, solar, biomass, electricity generation, nuclear energy); the geography and geopolitics of energy markets; energy and transportation; environmental protection; climate and global warming; technology and R and D considerations; energy conservation; national security; government policies. Recommended: one Economics course.
