Catalog description

This course discusses the importance of correctional treatment, including offender assessment and classification, and an overview of the major systems of therapeutic intervention (e.g., psychoanalytic therapies, social learning models, and cognitive therapies). The course also explores the role of the correctional counselor in delivering service to offenders. A broader focus of the course is to examine the components of effective correctional treatment policies, programs, and strategies. Prerequisite: CRJU 1108 and CRJU 3270 or permission of instructor.
