Catalog description

This introductory course is designed to help students understand the importance of criminal intelligence and crime analysis in combating street and organized crime. It introduces theories of criminal intelligence and environmental criminology, alongside policing strategies informed by crime analysis. The first half of the course will concentrate on criminal intelligence, while the second half will delve into crime analysis, featuring basic-level crime mapping and data analysis. Students will gain a comprehensive view of the criminal intelligence and analysis landscape, exploring how these tools can be applied to crime suppression and prevention.
