Catalog description

An introduction to the richness and diversity of cinemas past and present through close viewing and active discussion of American and international films. Students learn about key critical approaches, cinematic innovation, and the foundations of cinematic language (including narrative, editing, sound, cinematography, and acting) in order to actively "read" movies within social, historical and aesthetic contexts. This course carries credit in either COMM 2518 or ENGL 2518 .
