Catalog description
Exploration of the structure, function, and evolution of genomes using modern bioinformatics tools. Students learn how genome sequences are generated, analyzed, and applied to identify genes, infer biological function, and evaluate evolutionary relationships. Hands-on computer labs emphasize integration of molecular biology concepts with computational reasoning, and discussions address ethical and societal implications of genomics research. 150 minutes lecture and 150 minutes laboratory.
