Catalog description

This course will instruct the student in fundamental concepts and techniques of fine art photography, including aesthetics and technical aspects as a basis for creating a photographic image. Black and White Photography is an introductory course in film-based 35mm black and white photography. Specific areas of technical instruction will include: the manual functions of your 35mm camera; exposing 35mm black and white film; developing film; making contact sheets and work prints; and printing photographs in a ¿wet darkroom¿. In addition to enhancing your technical capabilities and your visual sensitivity, this course will encourage you to think about the way images can function in relation to one another and an emphasis is placed on the development of a personal photographic vision.
