This course provides an overview of California Indian groups, including a brief discussion of the origin and prehistory of native peoples and a detailed treatment of the diversity of aboriginal cultures prior to European contact. Analysis of the impact of Europeans, problems of intercultural relations, and the current status of California Indians.
