This course provides an overview of the development of human societies in the New World, starting with the earliest colonists and ending with the contact period. The course encompasses a multicultural sixteen-week tour through the most intriguing and fascinating archaeological sites and ancient civilizations of the Americas. Course participants will gain a renewed appreciation for the tremendous contribution of the past to our contemporary society and the effects of European colonialism on the indigenous populations of the Americas.
