Catalog description

Explores dramatic manifestations of the Don Juan theme (including history and criticism) from Tirso de Molina (17th century), Moliere, Mozarts Don Giovanni, Jose Zorrillas Romantic version, and into the 20th century with Shaw and Brecht. Also Don Juan in the New World via Derek Walcott, Mortons Johnny Tenorio, Octavio Solis, and Anne Garcia-Romero. Students write papers and present oral reports comparing and contrasting different versions and/or adaptations of the Don Juan theme in dramatic literature
