Religions move across real and imagined boundaries. What can Mormonisms historical movement across the Pacific world tell us about religion? About its interconnectedness with politics, empires, and ideas about race, ethnicity, and gender? This course pursues these questions, and more, through a rigorous engagement with existing scholarship, class discussion, guest speakers, and primary research projects designed to examine religions propensity both to migrate and to become rooted (and transformed) in new global spaces.
