Catalog description

In Thus Spoke Zarathustra, Nietzsches madman declares that God is deadand we have killed him! This declaration has been taken to mark a watershed in human history, but what does it mean? Is it true? If so, what now? We will consider this alleged loss or destruction of a ground of ultimate meaning from philosophical, theological, literary, social theoretical and empirical perspectives. Possible readings include Dostoevsky, Nietzsche, Faulkner, Tillich, Charles Taylor, and the case of Nietzsche-inspired murderers Leopold and Loeb.
