Transnational Buddhism through Digital Mapping

Catalog description

Introduces Buddhism as a global and transnational religious phenomenon; it also teaches students digital mapping skills to explore Buddhist movements, transmissions, and lineages that cross national and continental boundaries. Through a combination of lectures, discussions, and hands-on mapping labs, this course exposes students to diverse traditions within Buddhism and allows students to develop multimedia narrative mapping projects that connect local Buddhist sites to the rest of the world in digital stories of transnational Buddhism.
