Catalog description
This course investigates humanist themes that were the product of the Arab-Islamic reception of Greek thought in the early and classical period of Islamic history (~800- 1258) as championed in the works of literators, philosophers, and historians. The objective of this course is to introduce these humanist themes through close reading and examination of primary sources in their historical, multicultural, and multi-religious contexts.
