Catalog description

Cognitive science is the interdisciplinary study of how minds work. The project of understanding the mind requires tools drawn from fields that include psychology, computer science, philosophy, linguistics, anthropology, behavioral economics, neuroscience, and even the arts. This course is designed for graduate students from all disciplines wishing to understand the fundamentals of cognitive science. It will introduce you to the major tools and theories from these areas as they relate to the study of the mind. This course is the core requirement of the UCSB graduate emphasis in cognitive science, and It serves as a foundation for continued study in the cognitive sciences.
