Catalog description

A seminar-style workshop that introduces students to the contributions, careers, and backgrounds of diverse researchers in STEM fields. The goals of the class are (1) to expose participants to the multicultural and diverse ways of thinking about, performing, and interpreting science; and (2) to foment the appreciation for how We, as a community, can move towards creating a STEM field that is more inclusive of diverse contributions and individuals. Students are responsible for completing short assignments, show-casing a specific scientist, and directed readings on diversity in STEM. Participants are encouraged to reflect on their own experiences and bring their unique perspectives and opinions to each discussion.
