The Art of Scientific Writing

Catalog description

This course is about reading the scientific literature critically, and about writing science that is simultaneously impactful and readable. We will discuss what makes scientific papers compelling without being obscure and ambiguous and will practice through critiquing each other’s written work. Preparing tables and graphics, and formatting text will be an intrinsic part of the discussion. Grades will be assigned based on manuscripts produced before the end of the quarter.
