Catalog description

This course teaches students how to conduct research using an array of experimental protocols examining different aspects of articulatory production, motor control and timing in speech. Students receive training in techniques such as ultrasound, electromagnetic articulography (EMA), electroglottography (EGG), and plethysmography. Special focus will be given to constructing experimental designs fit for each methodology as well as understanding the theoretical goals that can be achieved with each of them. Our discussion will draw extensions across languages and across different types of disordered speech.
