Catalog description

This seminar guides student research as they prepare for, and participate in, the UCDC Program based in the nations capital. Students interested in immigration policy or in public service are encouraged to enroll. During fall quarter, each student will select a research topic, identify sources and methods, and write an application for UCSBs Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (URCA) grant, to be submitted in early November. Winter or spring UCDC students will conduct research after they arrive in the capital. Students are eligible for additional credits (up to 4 units per qtr) to finish writing. Projects should be completed in the spring. A symposium will be held in April. URCA recipients present in the colloquium in May.
