Catalog description

Explores the idea of voice and how voice negotiates our interactions with the world around us. We all have voices, but we dont really think about them; we take voice for granted. Using a number of interdisciplinary perspectives, well examine how voice is a critical category that influences our everyday lives, how voices are carriers of expression and feeling, and connected to our personal and social identities, and how voice can be a powerful platform from which we understand difference. We will use innovative approaches to create group and individual projects where issues of voice, communication, making meaning, and developing empathy will be a central focus.
