Literature of Globalization and Globality

Globalization is reflected thematically in works of literature. However, an examination of the process and dynamics of globalization through a literary perspective offers more than the treatment of globalization as a theme. This course explores the intersection of literature and globalization by raising the following questions: What is a literary approach to globalization and what are its literary registers? How do writers contribute to the discursive construction of globalization in their novels? How do literary texts represent experiences of globalization? What does it mean to write the global? We will engage these questions while reading novels by writers who offer narrativizations of globalization and express visions of globality.
