Catalog description

A comparative study of some of the great French and Francophone novels, alongside their adaptations for the silver screen. What does it mean to adapt a literary text for the cinema? Works studied will include: Balzac, Le colonel Chabert, Flaubert, Madame Bovary, and Zobel, La rue Cases-Ngres, as well as notable adaptations of these works by Angelo, Renoir, Chabrol, Palcy, and others. Lectures and readings in French, films in French (with English subtitles).
