Introduces students to the "close reading / watching" method of studying prestige television form and style. In recent years, television studies has shifted to focus on close reading / watching as a key method for analyzing prestige television drama. Critics like Ramona Wray and Jason Mittell have extended David Bordwell's historical poetics and applied it to television's narrative form and style at both the local episodic and series levels.
