Students are introduced to watershed management, with a focus on understanding the working professional landscape of various resource, land, and watershed managers/practitioners. The course provides an overview of basic processes and procedures of how management strategies/projects evolve from an idea to on-the-ground implementation. Topics include habitat restoration, basin-wide watershed management, flood control, urban and upslope management, and watershed careers. Course highlights include guest lectures by professionals from private, governmental, and non-profit sectors and 2-3 field trips to showcase real-world projects and facilitate interaction with practicing professionals.
