Catalog description

Explores how games tell stories across diverse play experiences such as computer games, interactive film, role playing games, "pick a path" gamebooks, board & card games, and escape rooms. Includes exercises in interactive writing for game design. Students will learn to analyze games as narrative using diverse methods from literary studies and game studies, and will develop an appreciation for games as art, including an understanding of the historical development of different game forms and genres and how games as stories both reflect, comment on, and shape their cultural contexts.
