Catalog description

A survey of paper as a storytelling technology, beyond the traditional book, page, or scroll, from ancient mystic texts to contemporary pop-up books. Considers paper engineering in the history of literary forms and genres, both popular and avant-garde, including literary uses of paper decoder discs and Llullian circles, dioramas, myrioramas, metamorphic trade cards, installment postcards, flap mechanisms, pull-tab animation, pop-ups, overlays, and more. Additional topics include the Moveable Book Society and Meggendorfer awards.
