Catalog description

A survey of the understudied work and tradition of Literature by Black Angelenos across its documented 100 year history. Explores the construction of Black life, thought, and identity in literature generated from Los Angeles. Focusing in on Los Angeles, while also considering Black California more broadly, this course explores a purview of Black literary production from the West coast.
