A studio-based introduction to the physical practice and training modality of butoh. Developed in post-WWII Japan, butoh in the 21st century is a contemporary dance theater form with divergent lineages and global aesthetics. Students explore butoh through movement exercises and improvisation scores with an emphasis on presence, imagination, and transformation.
