Special Topics in Communication: Organizing Difference

Catalog description

Using a variety of different organizational lenses (e.g. culture, team, or agent), students will think through how social identity issues materialize in modern organizational policy and practice. Course materials will encourage students to take the role of diverse organizational agents as they face ethical dilemmas in examining contemporary social identities such as ability, gender, race, class, and age. Students can expect a variety of theory and application integration through class discussion, reflective and analytic writing assignments and a final project. Students will identify issues of organizational power, policy, and practice, particularly as they may result in disparate material consequences of economic health and well-being.
