Ecocultural Communication

Catalog description

Explores how communication constructs and shapes human relationships with the environment. Drawing from environmental and critical cultural communication scholarship, we will examine international, regional, and local eco-discourses in order to better understand ways that human-nature relations are both culturally-constructed and materially experienced. Ultimately, our collaborative explorations will help us better understand how: A) cultural and communication processes inform, construct, and produce human perceptions of and actions toward/within nature; and B) ecocultural communication research can be used to deconstruct and transform dominant Western human perceptions of and behaviors toward nature.
