Catalog description
What is the effect of writing in a language other than ones own? Why choose to do so in the first place? In this course, we explore the works of various novelists and poets who, for one reason or another, choose to write in a foreign language, turning their back on their so-called mother tongue. We consider this gesture from many angles, first and foremost that of translation, and, more specifically, self-translation.
